A showcase urban plaza was created to serve multiple overlapping ‘day’ and ‘night’ uses planned from adjacent residential and commercial towers and larger 12-kilometer ‘new city’ development also feeding into the plaza.  Highlighting the features created were an outdoor ‘room’ of dense shade trees forming a signature armature across the plaza.  Numerous high-end water features, a giant LED screen and amphitheater were also created.  Located directly over an existing parking garage that was never intended to hold the weight of a plaza, a framework system of light-weight build-up material and hollow underground structures were key to supporting the proposed design.  Natural stone and large, mature trees were procured from abroad to raise the impact of the plaza.
