Eko Atlantic was founded when the Lagos State Government required a permanent solution to protect the city from severe coastal erosion and flooding. Reclaimed land and a storm barrier protection wall were conceived as a protection strategy and are now being constructed as a home for Eko Atlantic city.
Lagos and Eko Atlantic are now expected to become a new financial center for West Africa. Eko Atlantic will be home to 250,000 residents and 150,000 employees. The ten square kilometer development will include a mix of uses that integrates residential areas with recreation facilities, offices and shops.
